The SonaNote editor on the warm page theme: a note titled How Viruses Hijack Cells with a Biology topic chip, three paragraphs of prose, and a bottom bar holding a microphone, an Open study kit button, an image button and a camera.

01 Write

However you
have it.

Type it. Dictate it. Photograph the page, open a PDF, or transcribe a recording.

The New note sheet open over the notes list, offering five ways to start: Write a note, Snap a photo, Choose an image, Open a PDF, and Transcribe a recording.

02 Distill

Then the page
turns over.

One tap sends your selected note for cloud AI processing in the EU. It comes back as a study kit. See our privacy policy for details.

03 The kit

Your note, asking questions.

  • The gist
  • Key terms
  • Flashcards
  • Quiz
  • Mindmap

Five stages, New through Mastered. A card you have let slip is faded, never failed.

A study kit on the blackboard theme: the title Sleep and Memory Consolidation under a yellow chalk underline, The gist as six bullet points, and Key terms as chips reading Memory consolidation, Slow-wave sleep, Declarative memory and REM sleep.
Further down the same kit: a mindmap thumbnail reading 6 ideas, 6 connections, then Memory with five stages — 2 New, 0 Started, 3 Familiar, 2 Solid, 0 Mastered — the line Fresh, 43 reviews so far, 64 per cent solid, a yellow Refresh 3 fading cards button, and Practice rows for Flashcards and Quiz.

04 Practice

Cards come back before you forget.

SM-2 spacing, and every button names the interval it buys. The quiz is written from the note too — wrong answers and all.

A flashcard mid-review on the blackboard: the question What happens when chess pieces are placed randomly, with its answer revealed underneath in chalk yellow — the advantage held by expert chess players disappears.
A card Answer first, then say how it went.
Question 1 of 12 on the blackboard: what is the function of slow-wave sleep for memory, with four answers to pick from — it strengthens declarative memory for facts, it prevents the interference of new memories, it supports procedural skills and implicit learning, it prepares the brain for immediate cramming.
A quiz Multiple choice, drawn from the same note.

05 The map

How this note says its ideas connect.

Six ideas, six connections, in the words the note itself uses. Then the labels come off and you put them back, one connection at a time.

A note's mindmap on the blackboard: six chalk plates joined by labelled connections. REM sleep supports memory consolidation, sleep deprivation harms it, memory consolidation occurs during slow-wave sleep, and slow-wave sleep involves hippocampus activity and features neocortex integration — with a dashed line looping back from slow-wave sleep to REM sleep, labelled strengthens.
Labels on

The words the note itself uses to join one idea to the next.

The same map with every label blanked out and one connection picked. A panel asks What connects these? Memory consolidation to Slow-wave sleep, offering four words: strengthens, occurs during, supports, involves.
Labels off

Say what joins them, from memory. A right answer lands in green.

06 Tomorrow

It knows what to open.

What is due, the last fourteen days of study, and — one level up from a note's own map — a topic drawn as a web of its notes, with the next one to study ringed.

The Study dashboard on the warm page theme: Due now, 33 cards, a Review now button, and a 14-day activity chart with Learning in yellow and Biology in blue stacked day by day, under the line 29 notes studied in the last 14 days.
Study What is due, and the fortnight behind it.
The Topic map for the Learning topic: its three notes drawn as linked dots, one of them ringed in yellow and named The Feynman Technique, 6 new cards, with an Open button and a Study next pill along the bottom.
Topic map The notes in one topic, and what to open next.

Your data

One file holds all of it.

Every topic, note, picture and review schedule in one backup, kept where you keep your own things.

Notes export as Markdown, flashcards to Anki. Restoring adds what is missing and never overwrites a note you have.
