Effective 26 August 2026
Terms of Use
These terms form the agreement between you and MB Daivina (Mažoji bendrija Daivina), a company established in the Republic of Lithuania, for the SonaNote application. By installing or using SonaNote you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
They are also published at https://sonanote.app/terms.
Who may use SonaNote
You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country if that is lower, and at least 13 in any case. If you are under 18, use SonaNote only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. By using it you confirm you meet these requirements and that you are not barred from doing so under any applicable law.
Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use SonaNote on devices you own or control, for your own study, work or personal use. The app, its design, text, artwork and code remain ours or our licensors'. This licence gives you no other rights.
Your content is yours
You keep every right you already hold in what you write, photograph, import and dictate. We claim no ownership of it and take no licence over it, beyond any permission we need to operate a feature you have chosen to use. As the app works today your notes are stored on your device and we do not hold a copy; the Privacy Policy describes this and what would change first if that ever changed.
That also means we cannot recover your notes for you. Keeping backups is your responsibility; Settings has a one-file backup and a Markdown export built for exactly that. You are responsible for having the right to store and process whatever you put into the app.
Automatically generated study material
Summaries, key terms, flashcards, quiz questions and teach-back grades are generated automatically, by a language model or by the app's own text analysis. They are study aids, not verified facts. They can be incomplete, misleading or wrong, and a teach-back score measures overlap with your own note rather than whether you are correct.
Check anything that matters against a source you trust. Do not rely on generated output for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions, or as your only preparation for an examination or professional assessment. You remain responsible for how you use it.
If the app ever generates content that is offensive, harmful or otherwise inappropriate, report it through Settings → Feedback, or by writing to support@daivina.net. We review every report and act on it, including by adjusting how the feature works.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use SonaNote for anything unlawful, or to store or process material you have no right to hold
- use it to create or store content that is abusive, hateful, sexually exploitative of minors, or that promotes violence or self-harm
- copy, modify, translate, reverse-engineer, decompile or create derivative works from the app, except to the extent the law expressly permits despite this restriction
- rent, lease, sell, sublicense or otherwise transfer the app or your licence
- remove or obscure any proprietary notice, or attempt to defeat any technical limitation or licence check
- interfere with the app's operation, or with any device, network or service it runs on
Subscriptions and payment
Some features may be offered as a paid subscription. Where they are, the price, the billing period, the free-trial terms if any, and what is included are shown to you in the app before you confirm. Payment is taken by Google Play under your Google Play account, not by us, and Google Play's own terms apply to the transaction.
- A subscription renews automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
- You manage, change and cancel a subscription in Google Play's subscription settings. Uninstalling SonaNote does not cancel it.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policy, together with any statutory right you have where you live.
- We may change subscription prices. A change never affects a period you have already paid for, and we will tell you before it takes effect so that you can cancel if you would rather not continue.
If you are a consumer in the EU or EEA you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase of digital content. Where you ask for immediate access and acknowledge that you lose that right once performance begins, the withdrawal right ends at that point, as the law provides.
Notes you have already written stay readable, exportable and yours if a subscription lapses. We will not withhold your own writing from you.
Changes to the app and to these terms
We may update SonaNote, add or remove features, or stop offering it or any part of it. We may also change these terms — for example to reflect a new feature or a change in the law. If a change is material we will bring it to your attention in the app before you continue using it. The date at the top of this page identifies the version you are reading, and continuing to use SonaNote after a change takes effect means you accept the new terms.
Disclaimer
Except where the law says otherwise, SonaNote is provided "as is" and "as available", and we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements or produce particular study results.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any liability under mandatory consumer-protection law.
Subject to that, and to the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, for loss of data, profits, revenue or goodwill, or for lost study time or examination or assessment outcomes. Our total liability arising out of or in connection with SonaNote is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or EUR 50.
If you are a consumer, you keep every mandatory right that the law of your country of residence gives you, and nothing here removes or reduces those rights.
Ending this agreement
You may end it at any time by ceasing to use SonaNote and removing it from your devices. We may suspend or end your licence if you materially breach these terms, and we will give you notice where it is reasonable to do so. Your notes remain on your device in either case, and you can back them up before you go.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Lithuania. If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country in which you habitually reside, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country.
We would rather resolve a problem directly, so please write to support@daivina.net first. Consumers in the EU may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
